Through de EYES of our committee (UQMSA ULTIMATE CAMP 2016)

Its hard to believe that 4 short weeks ago, UQMSA had their first CAMP of the year (28,29.4.16)!

We all had a wonderful time together!

But what did our fellow committee think? Here are some of their thoughts :

THROUGH THE EYES OF OUR COMMITTEE

LUVESH

"Being one of the organisers, the camp was quite challenging to plan.

However, once the camp begun, it was a great to see everybody enjoy themselves.

The best parts were seeing participants enjoy the activities on the first day.

It was great to see familiar faces and some new ones as well. Great big thanks to everyone who attended!"

- Luvesh

"I was genuinely amazed by the spirit and energy from our members throughout the camp.

Everyone participated to their fullest during all of our activities and that was what made the camp a successful one!" :)

"Throughout this journey, the camp has been nothing less than an amazing experience for all of us. It was a well-deserved  break  for  all  of  us  after  an  intensive  month  of  university  life".

"The camp successfully assimilated the  serenity  of  nature  into  our increasingly metropolitan  life, in which the  opportunity  to  embrace  the  nature  has  been  diminishing  for us as day goes by".

"Lake Moogerah is a place that Ill never be tired of visiting, with beautiful moments remembered with every  single  step we took.  If  theres  any  complaint  I  must  say,  it  has  to  be  the  insufficient duration of the entire camp".

"The UC camp was super fun!! The most part was the tubing activity where they took us round and round, on a floating tube, on Lake Moogerah.

The second day’s hiking was tough but the view at the end was magnificent.

Overall I enjoyed the camp, especially with meeting new friends".

- Ashley C

"I really enjoyed the camp, especially the high ropes challenge.

This is because it really taught us teamwork and communication skills.

I have also made some new friends through this camp.

I would be delighted if I can be involved in the planning of the next UC again." :)

- Leong Wai

Huey Fang

"At first I was quite nervous about my group, because I thought it was quite an odd mix among our group members.

But thankfully, we bonded quite well.
I wish I was closer with all my group members.

Maybe because the duration of the camp was just two days.
Though I'm glad that all group members were very participative and supportive towards each other throughout the camp.

Im positive that this camp had brought people closer to each other." :)

"TheUltimate Camp was definitely an amazing experience especially when I get to share the experience with my fellow Malaysian community.

It makes the environment feels like home (:
The best part of the camp was the tubing activity.

It was so thrilling that my tudung/hijab almost fly off (dont worry, it didnt).
Also, the hiking activity was fun despite how difficult it was for me as someone who hasnt done any hiking for the past year.

However, it did push myself to try hard and I was glad I made it to the top. The view was uh-maaaa-zing.

Overall, I was glad to become a part of the camp." (:

"I met new people in my group. The team building process was great!

We helped each other a lot to finish all the activities together.

The hiking was tough for a lot of us, but we managed to overcome our fatigue and reach the top!" :D

“This was the first overnight camp that UQMSA has handled. Although I had camped several times before, this particular camp was a whole new experience.

During the previous camp, I slept in tent and relaxed because we didn’t have a specific event to follow. UQMSA camp was totally different because it had its own schedule to follow. This camp required more discipline.

But the activities were amazing which were different from a normal camp.
I had a lot of fun with new people.

Initially, I thought I was alone when I discovered that me and Syazwan were the only Malay lads in the camp, however, it wasn’t the case at all.

I enjoyed being with new friends because everyone was so sporting and friendly".

Yong Hooi

"It was a really great camp with beautiful sceneries and fun activities!

I enjoyed all activities throughout the camp.

Not only physical exercises, the camp did cover self-enhancement activities such as core values session and public speaking which I believe will come in handy in our daily lives.

The camp bonded me and many new friends together and I’m glad that we are still keeping in touch. Conclusion is, two days were never enough!"

"I really enjoyed the camp in Lake Moogerah.

The view of the lake was so breathtaking that it made me stall for 10 seconds out of admiration.

Being in my team made me feel responsible to ensure that everyone is taken care for, that they’re in their best condition, be it morally or physically".

- Danial

"This was my first time  camping  here  in  Brisbane  and  I  was  excited  already  for  it. Once we arrived  at  Lake  Moogerah,  we  got  divided  into  groups  of  7  people  each.

For the first  day,  the most enjoyable moment for me was the water tubing activity.

I screamed so hard! not because it was scary, but because I enjoyed it so much. The scenery was beautiful, as I got dragged across the water  during  the  sunset  time!  LOL

The second  day  was  awesome  as  well  as  everyone
managed to conquer Mount Edwards and see the beautiful scenery on top! I “makan” a lot of the dishes from the UQMSA Masterchef Competition, cooked by everyone as well after that! :D

All  in  all,  the  camp  was  a  good  experience  for  me  because  I  got to  meet  new  friends,  camp beside a beautiful lake and enjoy activities with everyone else!

"I feel the event was a big success.

I love to see when people come together and they make new friends and sometimes met those people that just click to you who may end up being your soul mate or even your bestie.

And to know that we were the one to make that happens, gives a warm feeling for me.

But best of all, it just felt like home and thats the best part of the camp.

Everyone had fun, good memories, moments to remember".

"I literally enjoyed everything from the tubing, to the high rope challenge, to the mini games, the camp fire, ghost stories, playing the guitar, storytelling, Masterchef...they were ALL just, SO AWESOME.

One of the activities which hit me on a personal level was the sharing of the core values.

Though most of us were new to each other, it was amazing how people opened up, about things which were rather personal.

I think that really bonded the group on a more intimate level. That connection was something very special to me.

Though it was just 2 days, the values friendships and lessons that I've picked up from this camp are definitely worth whiled and absolutely PRICELESS.

I will forever keep this camp dear to my heart"

SNIPPETS FROM THE CAMP

Being far from home, it is important to meet great people and friends.

That has always been UQMSA's dream and purpose, to unite our fellow Malaysians as well as others to have a GREAT time together, and ALAS, formed THE ULTIMATE CAMP!

Here is a snippet of our dear campers who step foot on the soil in the LAKE MOOGERAH CAMP!
