UQMSA AGM 2007

To all UQMSA members,

Please note that this year's Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on the 19th of October (Friday) at Room T103 at the Hawken Engineering Building from 6 pm onwards. Positions on the committee to be filled are:

President
Vice-President
Secretary
Treasurer
Social Conveners (2)
Education Convener
I.T. Convener
Sponsorship Coordinator (New Post)

This year, the procedure with nominations has been altered; all nominations and seconds/vote from committee must be accompanied with a reason as to why the nominee would be suitable for the position. Responsibilities attached to each position will be detailed at the AGM.

Any questions regarding the AGM should be directed to uniqmsa@gmail.com, and I will personally attend to them.

Queensland Hari Raya Open House 2007

Dear all,

Everyone is invited to the Queensland Hari Raya Open House for 2007, organised by the Malaysian Students' Council of Australia (MASCA) QLD, in collaboration with UQMSA, MYSAQUT, UMNO Qld, Petronas and PPMQ.

Date: 20th October 2007 (Saturday)
Venue: Darul Uloom Islamic Centre - 6 Agnes Street, Buranda
Time: 11 am - 3 pm
Cost: Free

Departing: Bus 172 (Garden City) or Bus 124 (Sunnybank)

From St Lucia:
Departing: Bus 109 from UQ Lakes Station
Arriving: Mater Hill Busway

Plenty of buses service the area so it should be relatively easy to get there. There will be performances, delicious food and you will have plenty of time to catch up with your old friends and make new ones. 2nd Semester Trip: Bright and Sunny Coast!

This semester, UQMSA is headed to the Sunshine Coast for a one-day trip during the holidays! Woohoo! The highlight of the trip would be the Eumundi Markets, famous for its food, music and quirky stalls that sell pretty much anything and everything! Visit their website HERE.

This is not to say that the beach won't be fantastic though! :P

This is what we have scheduled:

Day & Date - Next Saturday, 22nd September 2007
Proceedings -

* Leave UQ by 8:15 am
* Arrive at Eumundi Markets by 10:30 am (latest)
* Leave markets and head for Mooloolaba by 1:30 - 1:45 pm
* Leave Mooloolaba by 4 pm
* Arrive back in UQ by 6 pm

Cost: $30 for all UQMSA members (non-UQMSA members will be charged $35 but members are given priority)
Spaces available: 23

As you can see, we don't have many spots available so do register as soon as possible! We will require payment upfront so that we can charter the bus. Our registration booth will be outside STA Travel this coming Wednesday (12th September) from 12 pm - 2 pm. Refunds will not be offered for cancellations but hey, it's gonna be on next Saturday anyway! :) We also accept registrations and payment this Friday during Lantern Festival if we still have spots available!

The holidays seem better and better everytime we think about it!

Can I just say that last night Merdeka Gala Dinner was really fantastic?!!
