Owning a car

If you decide to drive in Queensland, please obey the traffic laws here as the traffic
police are a lot more stringent than back home and the fines are hefty.

Tax

If you intend to work or hold an interest bearing account in Australia, you require a
Tax File Number (TFN) and you can apply for it at http://www.ato.gov.au

Charity Shops

There is a YWCA charity shop selling second hand clothes, shoes and books in Toowong. Most, if not all items sell for below $5. It is located at 51 Sherwood avenue, just down from Toowong village. Near Laksa Hut.
