UQMSA’s “Jom Watch AFL”

And so the dreaded mid-semester period came, with its load of tear-inducing stress, assignments that just won’t write themselves up, and exams that reduce students to hair-pulling and overeating. And of course, UQMSA came to the rescue (as always la) with our ready shot of fun! :P

Over 30 of us headed in one big, noisy rombongan to the Gabba to experience football as the Aussies know it J It was the Brisbane Lions VS North Melbourne. Before this, the Lions were win-less in the new season with 7-straight losses. And then came our Malaysian gang. The rest, as they say, is history, as evidenced by the in-depth statistical analysis below :

The Brisbane Singa started the game in nervous fashion in a match that was really tight, but they eventually managed to outscore their opponents from Melbourne during the 4th quarter. Truly a night to remember for every one of us as we cheered like crazy for every pass, tackle and goal.

Special thanks to Michael and Simon for being our guides J

Warmest Regards

UQMSA Committee

Social Volleyball

UQMSA organised a great game of beach volleyball on Saturday, 15th March 2008. A lot of our members showed up, slapped a ball around and some even got to eat sand. It was a great show of sporting spirit where newcomers had a go at playing beach volleyball wholeheartedly and people who had experience gave tips and encouraged the newbies and their team members. At the end of it, the sun had set and a group of people had the court booked for 6pm and kicked us out but some of us kept on playing on the grass hitting the ball to each other. UQMSA went around collecting gold coin donations for the good cause of the club and to help pay for court hire and future events, and we got quite a decent amount, including $2 Singapore dollars! People, gold coin donation doesn't literally mean the coin has to be GOLD...it just means donation of any amount, in Aussie dollars! So, next time the collecting bag goes around, you know what to toss in there. No more SGD, or, the outphased RM1 coins, ok! but whomever that was, thanks anyway; your heart is in the right place...right?

Team UQMSA!
