BBQ Semester 2, 2008

Dear UQMSA new/old/ex/wanna-be members,

UQMSA will be holding our Semester II Welcoming BBQ this Sunday (3 August 2008) at South Bank Parklands at 12 pm.

If you have missed your registration with us on Market Day, feel free to register with us on the BBQ itself. Registration fee is AUD($)4 for the semester. Free food and drinks for all our members as usual.

Venue: South Bank Parklands, Brisbane City
Dress: Patriotic theme (colours of red, white, blue, yellow)

For those who're new to Brisbane, you can get to South Bank Parklands by taking the City Express Bus (444, 425, 450, 460, etc) that stops at the Cultural Centre Busway. Or, you can take the Citycat Ferry that stops at the South Bank Terminal. Check out the Translink website http://www.translink.com.au/ for further details regarding transportation.

For St Lucia newbies, take the city-bound CityCat from Guyatt Park or UQ, and stop at South Bank Parklands (after North Quay). Fare: $2.10 offpeak (weekend two-n-fro within 2 zones) concession per person with student ID.

Upon arriving, walk along the Brisbane river until you see the BBQ pits area (green lawn area) near the Suncorp Piazza. Look out for our Malaysian flag and if you really can't find us, just call Linggesh - 0416948478 or Karen - 0402262936 for help. Or, you can check out where Suncorp Piazza located by yourself at http://www.visitsouthbank.com/visitor_information2/maps/.

I hope all of you have enjoyed Market Day on 20th Feb '08 as much as I do last year.

Welcome BBQ for 2nd Semester

Hey guys!

It's the new semester and to our 46 new members, our welcome BBQ will be your first introduction to the rest of us!

Date: 12th August 2007 (Sunday)
Time: 12 pm - 3 pm
Venue: Guyatt Park, St Lucia
The BEST Part: IT'S FREE FOR ALL MEMBERS! :)
Note: We'll also be providing vegetarian sausages for those with dietary concerns.

The easiest way to get to Guyatt Park is by CityCat. If you prefer to catch the bus, all you have to do is get off at the St Lucia Ferry stop (outside Nando's on Mitre Street) and walk in the direction away from UQ and you will see it on your right. Look out for us and the Jalur Gemilang at the BBQ pits! If you face any difficulty finding us on that day, please call 04 1385 2698 and we will give you directions. New members, you will receive your membership cards on that day.

If you have any friends that didn't manage to sign up with us on Market Day, please let them know that they can come along and bring $4 for registration. UQMSA is not just for Malaysians but also for people with an interest in learning more about Malaysia, getting to know other Malaysians and our culture. Also, if you know members who haven't been receiving our e-mails, please tell them to e-mail us at uniqmsa@gmail.com and we'll fix that problem.

Besides the free food and drinks, we will be informing everyone present about this semester's activities that we have planned and events for the Merdeka Week celebration, so don't miss out! See you there!

Welcome again!

Hi guys! Hope you enjoyed the karipap and teh tarik on Market Day. We have an additional 46 members who signed up with UQMSA, making our total 239. Welcome! This semester, we are planning the usual fun suspects, such as Mamak and Movie Night. Don't forget the Merdeka Ball! It's going to be a great semester!

We are hoping to hold a welcome BBQ soon, just like the one last semester. Details will be sent out via email and posted on this blog as soon as we confirm everything. In the meantime, new members can explore this blog, and please forward any queries to us via email at uniqmsa@gmail.com
