[UQMSA] Think Tank 2016: Entrepreneurship, Critical Thinking & Confidence!

Dear Member,

Do you have brilliant ideas on how to make the world a better place, but just waiting for the right moment to express it?

Well, you wouldn’t want to miss out on this year’s Think Tank because now, it is your chance tochallenge yourself. What is a better way of doing it, AND stand a chance in winning CASH PRIZES FROM A TOTAL OF $600 AUD! Case study themes will be released soon!

Think Tank is a COMPETITION, consists of TWO parts.

1. Proposal: Write a proposal to tackle the issue being outline in one of our provided case studies. The case studies will be emailed to all registered participants

2. Presentation: Pitch your ideas to the panel of judges during the Think Tank Finale

P/s. Fret not, we will be holding workshops on Proposal writing and Presentation skills.

Requirements to participate in Think Tank 2016:

1. Form a team of 3 members ,with at least 1 Malaysian Student studying in a University or Tertiary Institution in Queensland is participating in a group. If you do NOT have a team, we can join you with other participants looking for a team :) REGISTER HERE!
2. At LEAST 2 members of your group have to be available for the Confidence Workshop (Saturday, 24/9/16) (Those registering individually would have already formed their teams)

4. A $30 deposit must be made by the team.  (Those registering individually will deposit $10)

What's next after registration?

CASE STUDY THEMES WILL BE RELEASED PRIOR TO THE PROPOSAL WRITING WORKSHOP!

Step 1*: Come along to our proposal writing workshop (not compulsory) on 2/9/2016 (Friday, 5.30 p.m. AEST). TIP: If you registered alone before coming to this workshop, you can find the other two team mates here. There is still time to register even if you do NOT attend this workshop.

Step 2: Case studies questions will be announced on 8/9/2016 (Thursday, 12.00 a.m. AEST). 

Step 3: Submit your proposal by 23/9/2016 (Friday, 11.59 p.m. AEST).

Step 4*: Come along to our Confidence workshop to gain some confidence and presentation skills (24/9/2016, Saturday, Time and Venue TBA).

Step 5: Pitch your grand idea to our panel of judges on Think Tank Finale (8/10/2016, Saturday, Time and Venue, TBA).

UQMSAs The Homeless Project: Bake & Donate!

**DO YOU WANT TO BAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?**Have you ever wandered around the city or anywhere at night and passed by a homeless person who was covered with blankets, trying to keep warm? You wanted to help, but you didn't know how? Well, here's your chance to help because UQMSAs The Homeless Project: Bake & Donate is coming your way!!**

This coming month, we are organising a bake sale, raising funds to buy essential items for the homeless. We will also be distributing the items PERSONALLY to them! So how can YOU help? 

Come join us for:

SESSION 1: BAKING & FUNDRAISING

Date: 22nd August 2016 (Monday)
Time: 10 am – 3 pm (shifts available)
Venue: Chemistry Building (68) Courtyard

Volunteers can choose to help us fundraise by selling our baked goodies!

SESSION 2: PACKAGING ITEMS TO DONATE

Date: 24TH August 2016 (Wednesday)
Time: 6 pm – 7:30 pm OR 8:00 – 9:30 pm

We will be packaging ITEMS bought using money earned in the bake sale!

Finally, after all that hard work, we are going on a VISIT to distribute these essential items PERSONALLY :D

Well, UQMSA and UQ WASABI are having a tour to JAPAN and MALAYSIA respectively on our very first collaborative event – 

UQMSA & UQ WASABI Tours!

1. SPONSORSHIP CONVENER RECRUITMENT!

Ever wish to be part of the team that drives Malaysian Students in UQ? Ever wanted to serve the Malaysian Student Community? Well look no further, UQMSA is currently recruiting our next SPONSORSHIP CONVENERS for the 2016/17 term! :D
Our Sponsorship Conveners play a significant role in gathering funds and support from our sponsors as well as maintaining relationships with them for the best interests of both UQMSA members and the sponsors, which is crucial for the smooth running of our society. To ensure that they are available for the Sponsorship Drive during Summer Break, a few candidates will be recruited early in the semester whom will be contesting at the upcoming Annual General Meeting in October. TWO of them will be officially elected based on members’ votes during the meeting. Applicants will be interviewed by selected UQMSA committee on the 17th or 18th of August (Wednesday or Thursday)!

2. Meet & Greet 2.0!

We would like to announce our next event coming up is MASCA Queenslands Meet & Greet 2.0 this SATURDAY! This event where Malaysian students from all over Queensland mingle, relax and of course, MAKAN! The theme for this event is MALAYSIA: I, ME AND MY FOOD. We will also be having other Malaysian Student Organisations (MSOs), so do check them out as well as their events and explore the richness of our diverse Malaysian cultures :) Enjoy awesome performances, play some games and stand a chance to be a LUCKY DRAW WINNER*!
