UQMSA Annual General Meeting 2016 - Application for incoming committee team NOW OPEN!

Dear members,

The end of the semester approaches, and thus the time has come for the current UQMSA committee to be refreshed with a new bunch of successors.

If you
·      have a strong passion towards serving the Malaysian community in Brisbane;
·      are able and willing to commit your effort and time for the club throughout the new term; and
·      would like to gain more experience and broaden your social horizons,

We then highly encourage you to follow your heart and run as the club’s representatives for the 2016/2017 term! Details of UQMSA's Annual General Meeting 2016 are as follow for those who are keen:


 Date: 12th of October 2016 (Wednesday) 

 Time: 6PM – 10PM 

 Venue: ELCX, Hawken Engineering Building (Bldg 50, Room C207)

*For those running for the SPONSORSHIP CONVENER position:
Our sponsorship convener volunteer who was recruited in mid-August 2016 will be contending for 1 of the 2 spots, wherevoting will be open to members of the floor (a two-third majority votes will be necessary for official appointment to the position). The second spot will be open to members of the floor.

Please note that applicants for the Executive Positions (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) will be called for an INTERVIEW with the current UQMSA executives. The tentative dates are 10th / 11th October 2016 (Monday / Tuesday) and will be informed shortly after applications close.


ALL MEMBERS are  highly encouraged to attend the AGM  as every vote counts to ensure that the new committee is selected by the members, as well as for the members. Do know that your vote has the power to determine how the club will be run next year.

Kindly note that only current UQMSA members are allowed to attend our AGM to ensure fair elections. We appreciate if you could bring along your membership card  with you during the AGM.

UQMSA's Confidence Workshop!

Dear member,

Are you ready to get confident? Do you want to make yourself presentable to the working world?

If so, join UQMSA's first ever 
CONFIDENCE WORKSHOP

This forms the 2nd component of Think Tank 2016 which aims to help boost your confidence to be ready to present your ideas at Think Tank's Finale! 

This event is open to ALL THINK TANK PARTICIPANTS  and  UQMSA MEMBERS  :D

Date:  3rd October 2016 (Monday, it’s a public holiday!) 
Time:  9.15am-1.00pm 
Venue:  ELCX, Hawken Engineering Building (50-C207) 
Dress Code:  Formal 

 *Lunch will be provided & is halal AFTER 1:30 PM

Males: Get simple tips and hacks and how to improve your style, and how to dress accordingly and appropriately.

Females: Get first-hand tutoring from our guest beauty make-up blogger. If you have ever felt overwhelm by the variety of makeup products, fret not because this tutorial will start from the BASICS.

DISCLAIMER: Chemist Warehouse are having a 1/2 price sales on cosmetics. Sales period till 28 Sept 2016. For a great hands-on experience, participants should bring their own cosmetics, mirrors (for females) OR bowties/ties (for males)

1. There will be a  GROUP PHOTOSHOOTING SESSION  after the workshop for Think Tank Participants. Please email to uniqmsa@gmail.com if your full team is unable to make the Photoshooting session.
2. It is  COMPULSORY  to have at least 2 out of 3 of your team members to be present in order to be  eligible for deposit .
3. Please  REGISTER  through the link provided to help us keep track of attendance :) 
4. There has been a change to the Terms & Conditions. As of 25th September at 11:00 pm, Think Tank teams are NOT allowed to exchange team members with other Think Tank teams or non-Think Tank participants (students that registered after the registration deadline had closed)

UQMSA Mid-Autumn Festival & UQMSA Dinners, Semester 2 2016


1. UQMSA Mid-Autumn Festival 2016

Hey yo members!

Here comes the time of the year again to feast on MOONCAKES, and even better, you can have some for FREE at 

UQMSA’s Mid-Autumn Festival 2016 !!

We are hoping to have a romantic moon gazing session with you during this festive night accompanied by assorted flavours of MOONCAKES and a warm sip of Chinese Tea
There will also be some snacks such as MUACHI provided for all of you!

Think Tank is a COMPETITION, consists of TWO parts.
1. Proposal: Write a proposal to tackle the issue being outline in one of our provided case studies. The case studies will be emailed to all registered participants
2. Presentation: Pitch your ideas to the panel of judges during the Think Tank Finale

P/s. Fret not, we will be holding workshops on Proposal writing and Presentation skills.

REGISTRATION opens TODAY! Closing on the 16th Sept 2016.

Requirements to participate in Think Tank 2016:

1. Form a team of 3 members ,with at least 1 Malaysian Student studying in a University or Tertiary Institution in Queensland is participating in a group. If you do NOT have a team, we can join you with other participants looking for a team :) REGISTER HERE!
2. At LEAST 2 members of your group have to be available for the Proposal Writing Workshop (23rd or 24th September, TBC) & Confidence Workshop (Monday, 3rd October) (Those registering individually would have already formed their teams)
3. A $30 deposit must be made by the team.  (Those registering individually will deposit $10)
4. Must abide to competition’s Terms and Conditions.(TnC can be read here:http://l.uqmsa.org/tt2016tnc )

What's next after registration?
Step 1: Case studies questions will be announced on 17/9/2016 (Saturday, 12.00 a.m. AEST). This will include requirements for the written proposals
Step 2*Come along to our Proposal Writing Workshop on 23/9/2016 OR 24/9/2016 (Date TBC). We can provide some feedback about your teams current idea! Additionally, we will be doing activities for participants to practice concise proposal writing (and we will talk about some of the Judges expectations for the written proposals)
Step 3: Submit your proposal by 30/9/2016 (Friday, 11.59 p.m. AEST).
Step 4*: Come along to our Confidence workshop to gain some confidence and presentation skills (3/10/2016, Monday, Time and Venue TBA).
Step 5: Pitch your grand idea to our panel of judges on Think Tank Finale (22/10/2016, Saturday, Time and Venue, TBA).

*These workshops are open to ALL members, NOT only Think Tank Participants :) Keep a lookout on our Facebook Page to find out more information!
