Outdoor Excursion to Stradbroke Island!

Heads Up, UQMSA Members !

Easter Break is in A WEEK ! We know many of you have been too busy to plan anything for the hols, so fret not and let UQMSA plan it for you !

This hols, for our first outdoor excursion of the year, we’ll be taking you to *drum roll please*..........STRADBROKE ISLAND.

North Stradbroke Island, commonly known as Straddie is the second LARGEST sand island in the world ! Let’s just say, it’s gorgeous !

But of course, we’re not just going to go there to see the scenery. We’re going to take you SURFING ! Or more precisely, we’re going to take you for SURFING LESSONS.

Here, let us just give you a rough break down of the ITINERARY.

1.5 hours of learning how to catch the waves to surf

We’ll take the North Gorge walk to Point Lookout where dolphins, turtles and other marine life are said to have been sighted there.

Chilling on the beach where we might play some frisbee/volleyball and getting those sunkissed skin ready for the hols.

  

So, if you’re keen, come and get your ticket for Straddie !

Tickets : $45 (bus, ferry, lunch and surfing lesson are ALL included) ***ONLY for UQMSA MEMBERS***

Date : 4^th of April, 2015 (Saturday)

Time : 7.30am, registration at UQ Chancellor’s Place.

Tickets will be sold on the 30/3/2015 (Monday) & 31/3/2015 (Tuesday), from 10 AM to 1 PM. Our booth will be located at UQ Union complex, right opposite Boost Juice & On a roll bakery ! TICKETS ARE VERY LIMITED ! SO GET YOUR TICKETS QUICKLY !

Please also note that tickets are ONLY purchasable by UQMSA members and that 1 person can only book for 2 spots including themselves.

For members with swimming concerns, the surfing coaches has ENSURED us that even those who can’t swim will be able to learn how to surf. The water won’t be too deep and the surf board will always be attached to you.

Three Monkeys Coffee & Tea House

Each cafe will offer something different but so DELICIOUS ;) So prepare your stomach, forget about the calories and see you guys soon :D

Tickets? Don't worry! We will have a booth set up on the 16TH MARCH (MONDAY)and 17TH MARCH (TUESDAY) from 10 AM TO 1 PM. You can find the booth near UQ Union, between STA travel and On a Roll Bakery (near Boost). Be QUICK! CAFE CRAWL has limited spacesavailable!

Hope you all are doing great! Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are sorry but have to slightly put off our pick-up time for UQMSA Makan Night 1 which is happening tomorrow. Below are the details:

Pick-up Date: 12th of March 2015 (Thursday)

Pick-up Time: 6PM - 7:30PM

Venue: Michie Building Forecourt (The grassy area in front of Biological Sciences Library, BSL).

We appreciate if you could bring enough cash to pay for your order when collecting your food.

Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang - UQMSA Members: $4.50 each; Non-members: $5.00 each

Nasi Ayam - UQMSA Members: $5.50 each; Non-members: $6.00 each

UQMSA Semester 1 2015 Explorace & Welcoming BBQ

Once again UQMSA wishes all new members a G’day and welcome to UQ.

To returning members, WELCOME BACK :)   

As per tradition, UQMSA will start off the semester with our usual WELCOMING BBQ, and this time we’re bringing in an all exciting EXPLORACE as well !

WHAT: UQMSA Explorace 2015

WHERE: Start at UQ Lakes, Natural Amphitheatre

WHEN: 14th March (Saturday)

TIME: 9am -1pm

(don’t worry, food will be reserved for participants)

WHAT: UQMSA Semester 1 2015 Welcoming BBQ

WHERE: South Bank Parklands (near Mado Turkish Restaurant)

WHEN: 14th March (Saturday)

TIME: 12pm - 3pm

UQMSA Explorace 2015

This year’s Explorace will be the most fun ice-breaking session you will ever have :)

This event will be unlike any other and you will regret not joining this amazing event. There will be a total of 10 teams and each team will have 4 members. Members will be allowed to sign up as a team of 4 OR sign up individually and then be placed into a team by our committee.

By completing the challenging yet interesting and FUN tasks, participants will get the chance to explore a number of places in Brisbane. And of course, winners will get to walk away with some amazing prizes too!

Registration for Explorace will close on the 11th March 2015 (Wednesday) @ 5pm, so SIGN UP AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE as registration is based on a first come first serve basis!

Participation fee for the race is only $2 per person. 

We appreciate if you could bring along a $2 gold coin on the event day itself and pay to our friendly committee before the Explorace. 

As travelling is involved, GO CARDs are essential and will NOT be provided by UQMSA.
